No dream is impossible for those who willing to strive hard towards achieving it. And one girl from the fisherman community in Kerala has proved just that.

Amidst the residents of Harbour Township colony in Vizhinjam, Kerala, 17-year-old Faseela is the first person to have bagged a rank in the medical entrance examination. She will soon head to a medical college to turn her dream into reality, reports local daily Mathrubhumi.

Hailing from an economically downtrodden community, Faseela’s achievement isn’t just a matter of pride and rejoicing for her family members – but the entire colony as well!

Daughter of Sulaiman and Ashrafa, Faseela secured a rank of 6058 in her second attempt.

The bright girl, who had scored 90 per cent in the higher secondary examinations, had attempted the medical entrance for the first time without any coaching and even managed to bag a rank.

However, she wanted to push herself and do better. Encouraged by her teacher Annie, Faseela decided to take coaching classes and moved to Pala with financial assistance from the Fisheries Department. However, homesickness took its toll and Faseela came back home.

But she wasn’t one of those who gave up when the going got tough. Determined to make it to the rank list, she prepared with the limited resources she could procure at home.

And she was not disappointed.

Though she got admission for BDS initially, somehow a seat for an MBBS course worked for the girl – who dreamed of becoming a doctor.

Interesting, how things work out!

Faseela attributes her success to her father, Sulaiman. She says this wouldn’t have been a reality had it not been for his constant support and encouragement. Her siblings, Fayas and Fayina, are elated with their sister’s success.

Set on joining Mount Zion Medical College in Adoor, Faseela eventually plans on becoming a gynaecologist.
